I do fear death, not because I think it would end my life, I believe in Heaven, but because I want to do things for this world and the impact my death would have on my family . My mom and I only have each other and I would never want her to loose me.
One thing I've brought up regarding Pitch-the world just isn't that scary anymore. Though he probably has a field day with certain areas of the world.
Kids are tough little buggers. I introduced the neighbor kids to anime years ago via Princess Mononoke. They liked the Tatarigami. Their mom had let them watch that old Tales from the Crypt movie. Parents are more unnerved by Coraline than the intended audience.
Fear certainly has evolved. We're not scared of the same thing as a 100 years ago. Kids react differently to scary stuff: it's up to the parent to know their child well enough to know what might be too scary, especially for the young ones.
