It IS Lovecraft! I thought I recognized his face from the first panel, but I didn't want to jump to any conclusions. Such a terribly appropriate guy to be having a conversation with Pitch, bless you for writing this comic with him in it!
Oh your use of lines. Even though there is so little rendering or line work at all, in those two middle panels specifically, I still see pitch. It is so interesting because he is a creature of the shadows and even though he is in complete darkness I can still "see" him. It is so lovely. So very lovely. I love your pitch comics so much.
You are very welcome. I always get super excited when I see one of your Pitch comics. I don't always comment because I don't want to just flood your inbox with repeats of the same "Oh my... so awesome *faints*" kinds of comments. All the cool experimental things you did with the comics so far are really interesting and bring Pitch to life for me. I love all of them.
It looked so much like lovecraft that I just began to hope that it was, and this page fullfilled my hopes! What a brilliant concept, to bring these two together. I love Lovecraft's disposition was well. The dialogue is as well crafted as the illustrations...ah, I just love this so much.
I was always wondering, in the movie Tooth says each used to be someone before they became a Guardian... what was movie Pitch's origin? I mean he used to be somewhat neutral/good then he became jealous of the chosen Guardians... which of course Book Pitch is different that Movie Pitch, as you've said. It's just interesting to see the difference when here Book Pitch used to be a man but became a tortured soul and lost a daughter 8( Poor Movie Pitch is so alone...
There are different ways of interpreting it, I guess. I wonder if Tooth meant that they were all humans before, or simply were different "beings" before they became Guardians. I never imagined Bunny having a human past. Nor Tooth nor Sandy, though I do love Tooth's half-human parentage in the books.
And since Pitch is not a Guardian...anything goes!
True! The only "human" (at least in the books) is North and then Tooth, she being half in the books, as you said. Bunny in no way is human as we see him revert back to a semi-normal bunny. And Jack was human too, I guess it just depends. Like how the Leprechaun and the Groundhog are mentioned but Sandy is spirit of some kind. But probably it's just a misinterpretation/open to interpretation as in they did other things before becoming a Guardian/finding their talent. Can't over think it and just enjoy what we have instead though it's fun to theorize! (Which is awesome that you do these comics)
