Just because it's a fantasy world doesn't mean it can just completely disregard basic logic. If you were watching Lord of the Rings and a giant rabbit fell from the sky for no reason, would you sit there and go "ah well, it's a fantasy movie, it's not meant to be realistic!" It has to follow some kind of logic, and be consistent with its own rules. So unless the film explains how Fire Nation ships can go back and forth between continents so quickly, then we as the audience must assume they go the speed of any other steam-powered ship...which is: not very fast at all. Therefore, it's illogical for Zhao to keep bouncing back and forth across the globe so quickly.
I't's a MINOR error, and I'll agree it's a nitpick, it just grates on me when people say "it's fantasy!" in order to excuse lack of logic in a movie.
I am more than willing to have a very high degree of "suspension of disbelief" if a tale is well told. I love fantasy and science-fiction so when it comes to accept unrealistic events and powers, count me in.
I simply had hoped that the movie had followed at least as good a standard in terms of storytelling as the animated series. I perfectly understand that doing an adaptation is hard work, but there have been plenty of other movies that showed it could be done well.
I'm quite over it, thank you very much, but at the same time cannot help but poke fun at it. It has made it too easy. A joke is a joke, nothing more.
