About ten years ago, I had my first gig working in storyboards for the not too well known series "Adventures In Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Lost World".

The Lost World, for short.

Started with doing clean ups plus a bit of help here and there with designs along the way, until finally getting one third of scripts to boards.
I will admit: I was sometimes a bit too over enthusiastic at times, going off on weird tangents. Plus, I made loads of mistakes!!!
I apologise to the rest of my team and director at the time for not always making their jobs easy. Mea Culpa.

Despite its flaws, I still have great affection for the series. The characters were a joy to work with. The villains, along with the good guys, were stuck on this dinosaur infested, lost civilisation isolated plateau in South America.
They sometimes had to work together to try and escape, which made for some really fun interactions.

Maplewhite and Colver were the two outsider villains.

Maplewhite may have been a total douchebag, he still had enough guts and courage to go after his goals.

Colver was an idiot most of the time. Only followed his boss Maplewhite for a promise of fortune. He's non violent, a wimp, but has enough brains to be a good mechanics.

Urcon was one of the native villains. The shaman of his tribe, trying to take power from his sister who ruled the Araya tribe. Selfish and power hungry, he's also capable of great sacrifices for the good of his people.

Mina is Urcon's niece and heir to the throne of the Araya tribe.
She's not at all a villain. She's torn between helping the outsiders escape the plateau, and the fear that they will tell the rest of the world about their tribe.
Giggles- the cute obligatory pet dinosaur. He didn't talk, just made cute chirping noises.

Just posting these for pure nostalgia. The serie had flaws: some of the writing and animation was a bit weak at times, but was a joy to work on.
Possibly the only fan art of these characters anywhere.

Ah! So this is a pre-book series. As it's Maplewhite's sketchbook that they find at the beginning! I really like that idea! Although I'd never imagined him as a bad guy...it never really says and I could see how he could be like that. Your sketches are awesome! And the characters personalities are instantly identifiable without the explaination.

I'm gonna have to watch this show! I LOVE the Lost World book so this should be really interesting.

It was really different from the original Conan Doyle story. They took a lot of liberty with it.
(and we have fun...but the fans of the original may want to hang us, ha ha!)

The animated series was not widely distributed or known. About the same time, a live action tv series was made, hence the confusion.

Update: They have two discs available for ordering on netflix! I'm going to check it out. But it looks like it only goes up to episode 10... were there any more that I should start looking for?
