Sweet Moves by rufftoon Sweet Moves by rufftoon
It started very seriously, as a practice for poses...then Toph came in, and then slowly everything turned into a Calvin and Hobbes moment.

I don't control these characters. They remind me any chance they get.
And no, I don't draw Toph's eyes. It just happens that way. If I do a close up of her face, then I will.

Rough pencils-photoshop colors
(little sketchy at the bottom is one of the original doodle that sparked the idea)

All characters belong to Mike, Bryan and Nick...Nickelodeon, that is. Dancing moment brought by Bill Watterson.

I just love it when characters run away with an idea.  Or in this case dance it away.  I like Iroh's surprised look when Toph enters the scene and his slowly morphing smile.  They look like they're having so much fun!  Fantastic poses.

"Calvin and Hobbes" is still huge where I live too. I sure hope it stays that way, it's my favorite comic ever!

And it's ridiculous how much this dance episode fits these two characters. I love how you made it a gradual change: they started out actually practicing, but in the end they were just having too much fun to bother with traditional stances. I like to believe it also reflects some of your own mood as you drew them. :)

The movements look great, their expressions speak volumes... It's awesome!

Fav'd.

LOVE. I love these two together - really wish we had a chance at more of their wacky adventures. (I'm pretty sure Iroh was "grandpa" to Lin. I refuse to imagine it any other way.)
