It has been reported on a few blogs that Nickelodeon Magazine will cease publication, effective immediately.

The magazine had a great pool of talent, from Craig Thompson (Blankets) to James Kochalka and many more. I believe Mike Mignola (Hellboy) even did something for them, if my memory is right (and it can be wrong).
Dave Roman and Chris Duffy are awesome editors and I hope to hear that they will bounce back from this very soon. They were really supportive of their artists and it was always a pleasure working for them.
On the Avatar angle of things, that means no more Avatar comics in prints. Finito. The End.
Damn.
I was going to do a Zhao story.
Sad news for everyone on staff and the artists that worked for the publication.

On the other journal story I wrote yesterday, I have a bit of news.
After contacting both Wikipedia and Amazon, basically....nothing will get done.
Why?
"Permission is granted to copy, distribute and/or modify this document under the terms of GNU Free Documentation License..."
The license says, in article 2:
"Verbatim copying.
You may copy and distribute the Document in any medium, either commercially or noncommercially, provided that this License, the copyright notices, and the license notice saying this License applies to the document are reproduced in all copies, and that you add no other conditions whatsoever to those of this License."
There's more, but I'm not going to type everything.
So it seems that it would be perfectly legit for you to go to Wikipedia, lift off whatever you want from it and make a book from that material as long as you provide credits for the people who wrote the article (no, you don't need to pay them) and you print with your book a copy of the License.
And charge hundreds of $$$ for it too.
It's all nice, fine and dandy.
Yipee.
Makes you think twice when you're about to post your deviation and you have the choice of a Creative Commons License (you also have the choice not to take it).
Makes you think twice when you post work on the internet or if you do write articles for Wikipedia.
In any case, I posted some scans of the pages for the book, showing the poor editorial work done. It's almost laughable.

Check to the left of the screen where it says "see all 5 customer images"

On a better note, reposting the info about the wordless comic contest organised by Bolzano:

Bolzano comics organises a competition for a wordless comics. It is open to participants worldwide.
Some information also posted on the Flight forums:

Note : SORRY, I DON'T DO REQUESTS!!
Nick magazine shutting down is pretty sad, though. I used to subscribe to that in my youth, along with Nintendo power. I'm pretty sure I stopped before they started having awesome comics, though.

Of course, I'm just here to look at other peoples' works and talk with some of the artists I like. I can't draw fantastic, genre-breeching, society-challenging pieces, after all, so what do I know about deviantArt?
