B) Bryan Lee O'Malley's book Scott Pilgrim has been adapted into a live action film: judging by the trailer, they've managed to keep a lot of what made the book a blast to read. High on my list of must see film this year. Give Bryan's book a try if you haven't already.

C) Another movie I am looking forward to: Sylvain Chomet's "The Illusionist". Here's hoping it gets enough of a wide distribution! A first look at the trailer (russian version) shows some wonderful traditional animation and beautiful art.

D) A big, huge thank you to everyone who has seen "How To Train Your Dragon". Hope you've enjoyed the adventure! I may have mentionned it, but this movie, after 2-3 years in development went through a major overhaul in its last year of production: rewriting the story! Let me tell you, trying to make it make sense in that short amount of time was a whole lot of work (not counting animation, fx, lighting, surfacing, etc...)
Kudos to the whole team, and to Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders for taking the helm.
(you can go and say hello to Chris, and tell him he's awesome right here `alohalilo )

And I'm pumped to see The Illusionist, but I'm not sure if it's ever going to make its way to the Netherlands. At least I now live in a city with hipster cult cinemas, so my chances of seeing this have increased a whole lot.
No word yet for distribution in North America. So many european movies never make it here.
Heck, I never saw Nocturna from Spain! Augh!
Even as it has a European distributor, I suppose it's not going to be easy. Persepolis, a French animated movie, only saw very limited run and the only reason I got to see it was because the local cinema had some sort of human rights theme going on.
Time will tell, I suppose.
