Little movie update

Mon Jun 1, 2009, 2:05 PM
EDIT TIME!

The lastairbenderfilm.com blog ( [link] )  had updated with a special look at some Water Tribe weapons made for the film, but unfortunately had to take the pictures down.

It does make sense, as usually that sort of material should only be viewed after a movie is released.
To follow the wishes of the artist-weapons maker, I will also cut out the link to the prop in my journal and delete it from the photobucket where it is hosted. Wouldn't want the artist to get in trouble (I thought "hey, if he's posting it, then he's got the green light! Cool!)
For those of you who managed to see the props, yay!
For those of you curious to see what the Water Tribe weapons will look like, the website still has some great samples of his work
Weapons made by Barry Howe of Lethal Lithics [link]

In order to make this journal entry a bit more interesting, erm...how about this contest that may interest a few of you out there?

Hmm, so did they change the weapons, or keep them like the cartoon?

Hard to say, as the weapons shown were not Sokka's traditional boomerang or war club.
The weapons shown were very good re-creation of primitive hunting tools.

Hopefully, they keep their cool blue color at least.

I am...moderately more inclined to forgive Shyamalan.

I still think a bunch of the changes are bull-the blue forehead tattoo was FINE; it did NOT need to change, and would it have killed them to make a fake scar for Zuko?

I knew Hollywood was going to change some things up, so I expected some changes. I agree with the armor and helmets of the Fire Nation soldiers; cool but feels a bit off. I thought this Zuko wouldn't have a scar, but I just noticed it (it's really subtle, lol). I'm actually very curious about the guy to the right of Zuko. Who is he and what in the world is he holding?

It looks to me like he's holding one of those helmets - probably Zuko's, given the circumstances.

I have to say, the look of the film appears to be pretty cool. I have finally noticed that the armor the Fire Nation soldiers are wearing actually looks like samurai armor, though the helmets worry me, mainly because they look a little like those Ancient Greecian helmets like from Troy. And the fact that the Fire Nation is wearing so much black, I thought they wore red, dark red yes, but, I'll save my thoughts for the trailer, if anything is shown in it.
