Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me.

Sadly I will be alone for this one. Matt had to do a concert he didn't want to do, so I will be live tweeting (humonlazydiva) my impression of the whole shebang.

The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

This time, of Avatar related books:

Next week (May 18th), the Zuko Prequel manga will be out. Written by Dave Roman and Nina Matsumoto, the story is set pre-movie (and pre-animated serie) and explores Zuko's travels and trials after he has been banished.

I know this journal is really old, but I just got the Art of- book. And the details in those landscapes completely stunned me. I couldn't believe how real they looked (especially Royal Caldera City), like they were actual places you could go and visit. I am loving the rest of the book as well.

They would be available right now in regular bookstores, so no need to order them.
Just call your local bookstores, see if they have a copy they can put aside and you'd just have to pick it up.
