Sad news

Tue Aug 24, 2010, 2:32 PM
First it was rumours, now it is confirmed: Japanese director Satoshi Kon has passed away at the age of 47.

He was at the helm of some of my favorite animes: Millenium Actress, Tokyo Godfather, Paprika.
He still had so may stories left to tell. He will be sorely missed.

Addendum: just putting a link to the intro to his great television series Paranoia Agent

So as not to end on a totally dark note, a big thank you to everyone with their DA BDay wishes.
Thank you, it was appreciated. I wish I'd had the time to reply to everyone.

I was really surprised, he was quite young, but they didn't really talk about his cancer until now. Such a pity he was a great director.

I don't know his work as well and am unsure about how I feel about all this. No use repeating I guess.

His films will last forever, thus so will he. May he rest in peace. It made me very sad to hear the news when I did, but I'm glad we all have his beautiful work to remember him by.

That is a shame... I really wanted to watch Paprika- the soundtrack is amazing but I've never actually seen the movie. May he forever be remembered.

Ugh. I love his movies, but I still need to get the DVDs...Perfect Blue was amazing! Koi wa doki doki... Gah. I need to go anime shopping over the next few months anyway, so...might as well pick up some movies.
